Festoon Cable made with neoprene has a high strand count hence it can be used in continuous flexing applications.
Festooning Cable can resist flames, oil, fat, and acid. Though both neoprene and PVC can be used in damp and dry environments Neoprene displays better weather resistance than PVC. These Flat Festoon Cables have a small bending radius contributing to the flexibility of each cable and are used in many small applications. This unique feature of these cables helps in using them in areas with minimal space. They are flat in shape which helps in anti-coiling.
Crane Festoon Cable is further divided into 2 categories. C-trach and tagline. The C-track is used to provide power to runways, control to a bridge crane, and low voltage control to a separate pendant station. Whereas, a tagline is used in providing power and control to a hoist system or smaller size crane. Crane Festoon is usually flat but there are some exceptions. What is Festoon Cable?
As a name suggest festoon is a word which often refers to something suspended in a curve between two points. Festoon cables are made of finely stranded bare copper conductors. This cables ranges from 4/0 AWG to 16 AWG and is insulated by PVC or neoprene Material. Neoprene version is more flexible than PVC because its conductors can have a higher strand count, which can be used in continuous flexing applications.
