A flat version of this cable is also available with 2 conductors and one non-insulated earthing wire. PVC Armoured Cable provides protection to mechanical properties. It can bear high stress in different environments. Armoring can be used as a circuit protective conductor as they are connected to the earth. BS6004 Cable 6242y has an extra layer of protection and is placed in locations that are usually exposed to mechanical damage.
