There are a variety of materials used to fabricated cables and wires. These wires have different properties depending upon the material that they are made up of. Silicone Cable is one of these which is a popular choice amongst customers. They display extreme flexibility, voltage properties, and a wide range of operating temperature ranges. Silicone Cable displays abrasion resistance and resists flames as well. The advantages of the cables are that they are flexible and resistant to aging in extreme conditions. 

A special grade of Silicone Insulated Wire is used temperature range between -90 degrees C and +300 degrees C. Normal service temperature of these wires is -50 degrees C and +200 degrees C. Silicone Rubber Cable are low smoke and halogen-free and are hence used in the aerospace industry. The benefit of using these cables is that they do not emit corrosive gases. They ensure reduced flame propagation along with clear visibility during a fire. 

SIHF cables are also used in an autoclave. It displays an ultra flexible nature and resistance to the chemical. They are implantable and are used in sensors, medical robotics, and handheld devices. High temp silicone cables are used in catheters, feeding tube drains, and peristaltic pumps. Ideally, ribbing cables are not ideal for repetitive flexing since they are brittle and non-resistant to harsh chemicals. However, for the automation and robotics industry, high voltage silicone wire with hi flex application is needed. They are known as silicone ribbon cables. They can withstand millions of flex cycles and can be bonded with as few as 2 cycles to as many as 20 flex cycles. 

These wires are available in various diameters. The 10awg silicone wire has a bigger diameter as compared to normal 20 AWG wires. They have low resistance along with a current carrying capacity that is higher than the normal wires. A typical 12 AWG silicone wire is used in household copper wiring. The higher the gauge number the smaller will be the diameter. Therefore, UL3132 wire is usually used in applications ranging from household to industrial machines.
